The Run Off

We got past Semi-Finals! ((:

Yay, I’m quite delighted about this achievement, especially since it represents something that our group has worked very hard for.

The road ahead, however, seems to be long and arduous. A quick list of some initiatives currently in store:

Green Club – Athenaeum

Hwa Chong Environmental Photo Exhibit

Inspirational posters

Power Meters

Hwa Chong Green Audit

and many many more.

Cheers,

Projects’ Day Semi Finals

I hope we made it ><

I guess that no matter the final results of the Semis, we will still continue in our quest to spearhead a change in the lifestyles and attitudes of Singaporean youths towards going green.

Sometimes, the going gets tough and the tough gets going!

And we got to keep going (:

International Environmental Conference (abridged)

"Today's Challenges for Tomorrow's Leaders"An international conference on environmental signifies a lot: one, the world is getting increasingly concerned about the environment; two, it brings together what other countries are doing and how we can take the best from each country and emulate it in our own country; and three, this is a problem that cannot be resolved in the present generation, perhaps not even our generation.

5 keynote addresses. 4 plenary sessions. 2 activity visits. All designed to heighten the awareness of individuals, to show the limits (or rather the lack thereof) to which how much we can do to save the environment.

Speakers from huge companies, government, Outward Bound all came to share what they have done for the environment. It is a conference to change our perspectives, to change how we live our daily lives.

"We did not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrowed it from our children."

I guess this quote said it all. It is our personal responsibility to save the Earth, but like any other thing in our lives, the decision still lies within us. Whether or not our generation will face the set of problems we are facing now, it all depends on us.

ECO Photo Exhibit

Here are some of the photos taken by me (:

They will be complemented with captions that describe global warming, deforestation, decomposition and other green issues! Stay tuned.

EnvirOlympix ((:

Recently (okay maybe not so recently), Singapore was awarded with the chance to show itself off with the inaugural International Youth Olympics in 2010. We beat Moscow for the chance and I must first congratulate Singapore. Hahas that means youths will have a more fun time in 2 years’ time.

How then does the National Youth EnvirOlympics Challenge then link up with the entire notion of going green? It embodies the Olympic spirit and pushes teens to make a name for going green as we ran throughout Singapore to complete stations after stations.

Sweat and tears profusing
Running and walking
Without any turn back
Nor any regrets for our lack

We went forth
Did the impossible
Which became the possible.

Though winning was away
My life wasn’t astray.
EnvirOlympics
No problemo olympix.

A fun experience! Especially with Wei Li from SAJC as our facilitator. (:

Project ECO forum website

I know im being pressed for this important assignment since like umpteen aeons ago; ive been meaning to actually get down to doing it, but the horror of countless homeworks and tests painted before me have reduced my enthusiasm and drive to a mere speck, and right now it(the website) is still just a concept in my head. i WILL get it done as soon as i get the other very urgent things done, serious. should be up by this week latest.
Oh and jiayou all! hope we get through pday semis.
